Some of the more significant include:1982 Consultant to Rexell Industries to computerize their company. 1983 - 1984 Consultant to Intelligent Controls coding software for a dual-fuel engine controller (gasoline and propane).1985 Designed and provided cost estimates for an engine control development environment to permit Carter Weber to initiate an electronic engine control development program including a hardware development laboratory, a software development laboratory and a vehicle test fleet.1988 - 1990 Consultant to Hewlett Packard working in both Dearborn MI and Palo Alto, CA on Ford's Service Bay Diagnostic System. Responsible for all code and information regarding Ford's proprietary vehicle communication protocol to permit the diagnostic computers to retrieve data from vehicles.1989 - 1992 TMC was a commercial uucp/Usenet provider. In 1992 I purchased an interest in Msen and eventually merged the TMC business into that firm.1990 - 1991 Consultant to MPSI in Sterling Heights Michigan. While I was working there, Simplix was a DoD and Commercial Value Added Network (VAN) that performed EC/EDI (Electronic Commerce and Electronic Data Interchange) for small businesses (B2B,B2G) and government agencies (G2B). Initially hired as a software consultant at Ford's Scientific Research Laboratory, two years later my duties had expanded to supervising approximately 50 Ford and GM based personnel for RST, along with some recruiting and sales. I obtained that position after seeing numerous personal and technical issues that were not being addressed in a timely manner. My final three years at RST were billed through TMC.Ford projects I was involved with include:• Designed, developed, maintained and calibrated the engine control code for a High Fuel Economy Concept Car that achieved over 100 MPG.• Lead designer and first user of improved test equipment that provided engine control programmers with the ability to simulate real-world events at their desks, rather than using vehicles.• Consulted on several projects aimed at replacing the assembler-based development process with a high level language.• Wrote and maintained engine control code in a Ford-proprietary high level language. Project aim was two-fold; prove the viability of the language and determine the feasibility of replacing an expensive sensor with software.• Worked with several international committees within Ford to improve product quality and reduce costs. • Specified the design requirements for an advanced system to drastically improve the development time as well as provide much better diagnostics for engine control programmers.• Developed code for and consulted to other projects including diesel fuel injection, rubber belt continuously variable transmission, natural gas and propane powered engines.• Consulted to and supported Masscomp users throughout the company,• Implemented many forms of data acquisition systems including DEC-based systems for in-lab use, and Masscomp (high speed Unix) systems for engine and vehicle dynamometer use.
