Mike developed strategies and created new products for retail and service companies, infusing a user-centric approach and exploring the role of physical and digital in delivering meaningful experiences. Clients included Google US and Starbucks (retail partnership), IKEA, Joseph Joseph kitchenwares, Nike global brand team, LG appliances and devices, Sourced Market, Virgin Money digital bank (with Door Global), and startups Blossom sleep management, CORE sports nutrition and Eto wine preservation.

Seymourpowell is a design and innovation consultancy. Mike worked with Seymourpowell for fourteen years, where he was an Associate Director responsible for global design and innovation projects. He was a key player in the development of both their FMCG and innovation offers, and worked closely with organisations that included Arjo Huntleigh, Arla, Carlsberg Group, Castrol, Diageo, Kraft, PepsiCo, Saitek, Stannah Stairlifts, Tefal and Unilever (Axe/Lynx, Dove, Rexona/Sure, Walls) across their different functions, from brand and marketing to R&D and supply chain. His contribution was recognised by a Red Dot product design category winner and Design Week industrial design commendation in 2008, a Starpak Gold award in 2007 and a Trophee D'Or du design in 2005.

Conran & Partners is a multi disciplinary consultancy offering product, graphic and interior design alongside architecture. Mike worked on a variety of projects including the award-winning Anywayup Cups, luxury leather items for Connolly and the memorable Bluebird ashtrays for the Bluebird Restaurant, London.His contribution was recognised by a Red Dot product design category winner in 2001, a DBA Design Effectiveness winner in 2000 and two Millennium Product awards in 1999.
