In this role I direct and supervise the maintenance, repair, design, and construction of instrumentation used to support the teaching and research community at Miami University. This includes supervising (and hiring of) staff in the Instrumentation Laboratory that have multi-faceted and differing technical expertise, all budgetary and purchasing functions, and project management. I also am the Chair of the Instrumentation Laboratory Advisory Committee.

Directed and managed all aspects of corporate wide data & voice networks. Responsible for growing network (from 1 geographic location to 3) from a few systems to nearing 65 systems with a total of 50 users. Managed a wide variety of services including data storage, server virtualization, e-mail services, database management and design, web services, as well network security and compliance. This position also included continued functions of electrical engineering (previously held) to support laboratory operations including but not limited to: circuit and system design, custom programming and interfaces, and system troubleshooting.

Responsibilities included the design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of closed and open loop control systems used in the mechanical and medical device testing industry. High level of exposure and experience in analog and digital electronics, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Provided in depth knowledge and resources for vendor specific (MTS, Instron) materials testing equipment. Also, designed complex custom testing equipment & software for thermo-mechanical fatigue testing, cyclic rupture testing, and crack detection\growth systems - all primarily developed in and utilizing the National Instruments LabVIEW platform.

Provided design work and assistance to senior level system engineers responsible for generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical power across the entire Duke Energy service area. Design work was focused on building and maintaining communication systems between generating and distribution sub stations all the way back to the primary network operations center. Also had exposure to design and testing methods of components used throughout the entire system.

Engineering intern focusing on design and system development work across all operations (power generation, brewing, bottling, packaging, and distribution) of the Trenton brewery. Primary focus work was on closed loop and PLC control of conveyor and palletizing systems used in the bottling and packing processes.

Engineering intern focusing on the control systems used throughout the entire manufacturing and packaging process of the Mason, Ohio facility of HJ Heinz. Primary focus was on closed loop control systems and network monitoring of the packaging and tracking systems. Also had exposure to maintenance of existing systems throughout the facility as well as design and development of new systems and techniques used in this industry.
