I have been practicing medicine in the Washington Metropolitan area since 1985. I have been an advocate for improvements to patient care and early in my career, in conjunction with my physician partners, I established the first outpatient endoscopy center in the Washington Metropolitan Area which was also the first to be approved by Medicare nationwide. Later, I would join forces with gastroenterologists across the area to found Capital Digestive Care - serving as Vice President since 2009. In April of 2017, I was elected President and CEO. In addition to my leadership role at Capital Digestive Care, I represent physicians across medical, political and regulatory landscapes as the Vice Chairman for the Digestive Health Physicians Association (DHPA) - the national GI independent practice advocacy organization. I also maintain an academic appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.In terms of my academic background, I completed a degree in Chemical Engineering at Northwestern University in 1976, Doctor of Medicine degree at Northwestern Medical School in 1980, an Internal Medicine residency at George Washington University Hospital in 1983, and a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Washington Veterans Hospital in 1985. I am board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. I am presently a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the Medical Society of the District of Columbia.
