Michael’s practice covers diverse areas of civil litigation including commercial and corporate litigation, professional negligence and liability, insurance litigation, construction litigation including residential real property disputes, tax litigation, and personal injury lawsuits. Michael also frequently advises and acts for victims and complainants of sexual assault whose private records are at issue in criminal proceedings. Michael has appeared before all levels of Court in Manitoba, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Tax Court of Canada and various hearing and arbitration panels for self-regulating organizations. During law school, Michael won the International Negotiation Competition for Law Students, representing England and Wales. He also won the University of Leicester Moot Court Competition and represented the University at the Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition in International Law. Since 2007, Michael has acted as coach of the University of Manitoba negotiation team and was recently appointed as Canadian national representative to the International Negotiation Competition. He also conducts workshops each year for students in the Robson Hall negotiation course. Michael is a member of the Law Society of Manitoba, the Manitoba Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the MS Society of Canada - Manitoba Division and the Board of Directors of B’nai Brith Camp.
