During my time at CDM Smith I worked on every aspect of Contaminated Land projects from proposals and budgets, all the way through to final product delivery. During my time… Show more During my time at CDM Smith I worked on every aspect of Contaminated Land projects from proposals and budgets, all the way through to final product delivery. I was involved in a wide variety of projects including groundwater monitoring events, sub slab and soil vapor assessments, waste classification, stockpile assessments, preliminary ESA’s, and EMR removals.My key responsibilities included collection of field-based data, for sites both in Queensland and New South Wales. During my time at CDM Smith I was responsible for pricing, arranging, and conducting a large amount of standard contaminated land field works. My reporting duties included submissions for a number of regular clients, such as memorandums on scheduled operation and maintenance of remediation equipment, gauging and LNAPL thickness reporting, and monthly gauging events. Other reporting has included proposal writing, desktop studies and historical site assessments. I also worked closely with the environmental services team, assisting with a number of mining clients to assist with complying with their EA conditions, and providing environmental advice during various phases of mining projects. Furthermore, I regularly worked with the Hydrology team assisting with fieldwork and data collection and analysis. As an exploration geologist at Ray Slater & Associates I have worked on numerous coal projects throughout the coal basins of central Queensland. during my time here I have had many roles, ranging from rig geologist supervising single rigs, to supervision of multiple rig projects. my tasks have involved logging core of multiple sizes ( HQ, PQ, 4C, and 8C) and chip samples, I have also done line of oxidation drilling and sampling. All core logging has also included preparation of core samples for coal quality testing, geo technical testing, and geo chemical testing, I have also been involved in gas testing of core.Other responsibilities have include hole planning, from creating a pre start hole plan to deciding what geophysical tools to run down hole and cement calculations for hole grouting operations, supervision of multiple drill rigs and other associated exploration activities, such as earthworks, preparation and dispatch of multiple types of samples to various laboratories, geotechnical point load testing, geophysical correction of lith data with wireline logs, and daily reporting of field operations via email, conference calls, and weekly project meetings. On a number of projects I was also responsible for monitoring environmental compliance of drilling and other related activities. Report writing made up part of my duties here at Ray Slate & Associates. The reports I was tasked with completing included technical reporting, coal tenement evaluation, resource volume estimations, and compliance reports that were completed on behalf of clients that were submitted directly to the mines department. By doing these reports I developed report writing skills, Microsoft office skills, and the time management skills required to work on multiple projects while sticking to tight deadlines. Show less
