I have served as a council Chief Executive, ranging from small rural districts to provincial cities, in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom. Those authorities ranged from 1,600 to 80,000 citizens, with staff of up to 700, and budgets of up to $100m, consisting of service delivery and commercial activities. I have also been President of two national local government professional management associations (SOLGM and ICMA), as well as serving as a Director on a number of local authority owned entities.I have now moved into the Encore phase of my career.
