I’m a web developer with a background in Spanish-English translation and interpretation. I did volunteer work as a translator in the journalism field and interpreter in the legal and sports industry, and I worked as a bilingual customer service representative in the insurance industry. After taking a few online courses in web development, I discovered I was interested in computer languages as well and that the satisfaction of problem solving when it comes to finding the best word or phrase to make sure a message is clearly communicated with translation was something I similarly experienced with programming by creating a function to solve a problem or fix an issue that is causing a function to fail. This, in addition to the idea that programming skills provide the ability to create websites and apps that can connect and help people all around the world regardless of the language they speak was what led me to pursue a career in web development.I currently work as a Web Tech Assistant where I help maintain several WordPress sites by creating custom plugins/functionality, editing content, troubleshooting errors, and ensuring mobile responsiveness. My skill set:• HTML• CSS• Bootstrap• JavaScript• jQuery• React• PHP• SQL (MySQL)• WordPressI am currently looking for a Front-End Developer role where I can more fully utilize my skills to help make a positive impact on the world.
