The need for minority health equity is what led to my career in Public Health. As I embark in new endeavors in my career path, I hope to destigmatize concerning health matters in minorities and continue to bridge the gap between communities and providers. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion with a Certificate of Proficiency in Health Coaching from the University of Central Arkansas. I thrive by immersing myself in new and diverse environments as an opportunity to learn and embrace others. Advocacy, empowerment, and inclusion are the embodiments of community and the responsibilities of one in public health.In my current role as a Health Educator, I provide culturally relevant educational materials and promote healthy lifestyle behavior changes for adult and child education within an indigenous tribal community. I also initiate and oversee communications channels for the community through social media platforms and the backend of our community health app. Utilizing my health coaching and motivational interviewing skills has also aided my career path as a Program Specialist for Tobacco Cessation at the UAMS Medical Center. I worked alongside the Thoracic Sugery Oncology and Internal Medicine Clinical teams to notify and provide an individualized tobacco cessation plan for participants. I also collaborated with the Mobile Mammography Unit to travel weekly to several counties in Arkansas to recruit patients as participants for the Tobacco Cessation Program while providing educational materials, Nicotine Replacement Therapies, and information about Low Dose CT scans to promote Lung Cancer awareness. My partnership with the Mobile Mammography unit helped increase awareness and access to healthcare for Arkansas Residents, and implemented behavior changes for participants' needs for smoking cessation. I am currently on of the core members within my organization developing a community-wide nutrition program. I am excited to share how my collaborative efforts will shape my community.
