I have just completed my first year as a social work student at ARU Peterborough. This year I’m looking forward to the challenge of our first placement and the opportunities and new experiences I hope that it brings, as it is in a sector completely different to anything I have worked in before. I am also a member of the ARU social work committee. Our small society was founded last year and we were proud to revive the Society of the year award 2023. As a society we are always looking for new experiences and training outside of our wider curriculum that can support of professional development moving forward. Annually we hope to further fundraisers for charities within the local community. Prior to university, I was work at a SEMH primary and secondary school. I spent 6 years in the role starting initially as a STA and then moving into outreach. As it was a new position I was entirely able to mould and shape this role, to fit the needs of the students. Keeping children and YP safe whilst also raising their attainment to access school again and working with the families alongside tutoring was my key to success.
