Dr. Michaela Simpson, MD is a graduate of Ross University School of Medicine. She is training as a pediatric resident at MCWAH/Children’s Wisconsin and will continue there as a fellow in neonatal-perinatal medicine in summer 2025. Her interests include NICU follow-up, maternal & child health, global health, perinatal palliative care, advocacy, DEI, health equity, social determinants of health, medical education and quality improvement (QI) research. Her QI research includes "Implementation of the 2022 AAP Guideline Optimizes Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia Healthcare Utilization" as well as work on the approach to Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome in the newborn nursery with research advisor in collaboration with providers in the Froedtert Milwaukee newborn nursery. She has presented her poster on her hyperbilirubinemia QI work at a few conferences this spring (2024): Children's Wisconsin Best Practices in Pediatrics regional conference, MCW Research Day, and the Pediatric Academic Societies conferences.Michaela will apply for fellowships in neonatal-perinatal in the summer of 2024 to begin training in the summer of 2025.In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two small yorkies, biking, Pilates, kickboxing, and opportunities to be creative, such as DIY crafts or nature/landscape photography. She has also been working on teaching herself to play the acoustic guitar.
