Michael Ajemian, MD, is an award-winning surgeon based in Connecticut. Director of the Program in Surgery and of Trauma, Critical Care and Emergency Surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Dr. Michael Ajemian also serves as Clinical Professor at St. George’s University and Assistant Professor of Surgery at University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He has taught Physician Assistant students at Quinnipiac University School of Health Sciences.In the nearly two decades he has been a surgeon, Dr. Michael Ajemian has published a great deal of research. His peer-reviewed work has appeared in Lancet, Archives of Surgery, and The American Surgeon. In addition, Dr. Ajemian has published abstracts in CHEST, the Journal of Perenteral and Enteral Nutrition, and the Journal of the American College of Surgeons. He has presented more than 60 papers at national and international conferences, and he has delivered more than two dozen invited lectures concerning general and trauma surgery.Dr. Michael Ajemian earned his Bachelor of Science magna cum laude from Syracuse University in New York. He attended medical school and earned his Doctor of Medicine at the Medical College of Hampton Roads at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. Dr. Ajemian completed his residency in general surgery at the State University of New York (SUNY) in Stony Brook, and he carried out an advanced fellowship in surgical critical care at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York.Dr. Michael Ajemian has twice been honored for his dedication as a surgical instructor at St. Mary’s Hospital. He has received first place honors for clinical research from the American College of Chest Physicians and the Scientific and Annual Meeting of the Connecticut Chapter of the American College of Physicians.
