I was responsible for promoting the safe and efficient movement of maritime traffic in the port of New York and New Jersey.I accomplished this function by properly informing, advising, or directing vessel traffic of opposing traffic, hazards to navigation, Aids to Navigation discrepancies and unusual conditions not normally expected by the mariner in order to reduce the probability of collisions, a ramming, groundings, and mitigate any environmental damage.
