I am an accredited conservation architect with approaching fifteen years practicing experience in the design and management of architecture. The majority of my architectural practice to date has been concerned with the creative conservation of historic buildings, structures and the wider landscape context in which they exist.Since 2009 I have held the position of Principal at Michael Atkinson Architecture + Heritage. My passion and interest in the historic environment began as a young lad, my parents regularly touring each and every National Trust and English Heritage property in the north encouraged a career in architecture. I am a longstanding member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and have been awarded a Masters in Conservation Studies (Historic Buildings) from the Centre of Conservation Studies, The University of York, UK. My conservation skills and experience has led to inclusion on the Register of Architects Accredited in Building Conservation (AABC).Specialities: Architectural Design, Building Conservation, Quinquennial Surveys, Cultural Heritage, Conservation Issues, C20 Conservation, Architectural History.Through conservation work I have developed a deep interest in encouraging training opportunities and promoting the use of traditional heritage skills within the building conservation sector, as such for the last three years have been delighted to be involved judging the Heritage Skills in Education programme run by the North East Civic Trust.07800 593 347 | info@atkinsonarchitecture.co.uk | @architecturo
