With more than three decades in the wealth management across blue-chip Australian and multinational corporations Michael has been part of leadership teams that have grown significant funds management businesses.Michael joined Centuria in 2016, initially as head of Sales and Marketing to drive the growth of the Funds Management business. He is a member of the Senior Executive team of Centuria responsible for approving the strategic direction of the group and approval of all transactions. Centuria had approximately $2.3 billion in funds under management had a market capitalisation of under $50 million with less than 40 staff. Today Centuria has over $21 billion in funds under management, approximately 500 staff and is an ASX 200 Company. The business grew rapidly through innovation and acquisition accessing multiple capital markets via retail and institutional investors offering listed and unlisted funds. In 2020 Michael became responsible for relaunching the Life Company. Every aspect of the business needed re-positioning to make it a competitive option competing with superannuation and wrap accounts. Michael is wholly responsible for Centuria Life’s balance sheet, profit and loss, strategic direction, funds under management growth, product development and directly reports to the Group CEO and the Centuria Life Limited (CLL) Board. He is a member of the Centuria Life Investment Committee that oversees the full range of investments.Prior to Centuria Michael was Director of Cromwell Property Funds Management responsible for running the funds management business reporting to the Group CEO and was a member of the senior executive team. When Michael joined Cromwell they had less than 20 staff and approximately $250 million under management.Cromwell grew its funds under management to over $8 billion and it became an ASX 200 company with acquisitions in New Zealand and Europe. Michael was put on the Board of Oyster New Zealand to assist its integration and growth utilising the Cromwell balance sheet. Cromwell partnered with Phoenix Portfolios in a joint venture and Michael was put on the Board of Phoenix. Cromwell won multiple industry awards including Fund Manager of the Year in Direct Property and A-REITs.Prior to this, he held senior management roles at Heine Funds Management, Mercantile Mutual, HSBC and Zurich.Michael holds a Bachelor of Financial Administration, a Master of Business Administration, a Diploma of Financial Planning and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
