Primary instructor for 7-week MCAT prep courses designed for pre-medical students at the University of California, Berkeley. Content of lessons include advanced subjects in biology, biochemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry, physics, psychology, sociology, and critical text analysis.

Studied genetic regulators of host-pathogen interactions in the nematode C. elegans as a member of the Troemel Lab at UC San Diego.Worked to understand how the Intracellular Pathogen Response (IPR) is regulated by genetic "on-off" switches in the pals gene family. Investigated how these regulatory mechanisms confer pathogen resistance to natural intracellular pathogens of C. elegans, namely the microsporidia N. parisii. Used techniques such as qRT-PCR and Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization (FISH) staining in order to quantify endogenous gene expression of IPR-related genes and to evaluate resistance to infection by N. parisii. Previously, I also investigated genes that code for SUMOylation components and their role in regulating the Intracellular Pathogen Response in C. elegans.
