Michael provided strategy, leadership, and management for all aspects of the firm's technology enabling its growth from five locations with about seventy attorneys to nine locations and nearly two hundred attorneys and close to five hundred in total population.Michael led a team of over thirty people geographically distributed across nine offices and managed a multi-million dollar budget. He instituted project planning, change control, quality control, hardware & configuration standardization and a test network. He restructured budgeting process by instituting assets-aging charts that normalized capital expenditures. To maximize the user experience he tied the assets-aging charts to the problem database that allows for quantitative decisions on useful life extensions or contractions of laptops, desktop and other user facing hardware.In late 2001, Michael led a cross-functional team assigned to procure a telephone system. He drove the adoption of a Mitel VoIP phone system that eliminated interoffice long-distance phone charges. Key partners were given teleworker desktop phones that worked over the internet enabling them to work from home.

Responsible for day to day management of SQL DB systems.Hired originally to convert the document management system, create user confidence in the accounting system, and mentor the IT team.Michael developed a customized "Fee and Disbursement Inquiry" tool for our time and billing system. This tool made real time fee and cost data, at both the client and matter level, readily available to our entire firm in a user-friendly format. Fee and cost data that once took hours for our Accounting team to compile is now available in seconds to any user in the firm. According to the firms Administrative Services Manager, "the efficiency gains from this tool cannot be over-stated."Designed and managed the product development of a mass claims settlement tracking system. That system was used to distribute $5 Billion to 700,000 claimants for a settlement involving a major pharmaceutical company. Hired and led a team of 19 programmers, mostly from India.Aggressively pursued by COO to remain with Bowman and Brooke, take complete control of IT function, and turn the IT department around.
