My primary duties involve the provisioning, set-up and deployment of servers with various network operating systems of Solaris 10: Microsoft Server 2003 and 2008 in a hosted and virtual environment.Since Christmas 2007 I have been involved in the virtualisation and major hardware upgrade to our hosting centre.The upgrading of our internal systems from Server and Exchange 2003 to Server 2008 and Exchange 2007.Providing our clients and support department with third-line support for our products.Dealing with day-to-day general IT desktop issues in the Newcastle Studio where I am based. Maintaining up-to-date documentation for the network, hosted and internal.

Providing support for customers with varying IT problems, including PC and Server both over the phone but mainly onsiteThe installation of LAN and WAN solutions, including VPN configuration and Firewall setup and using INTY servers, Draytek Vigor routers and NCP VPN software.

Dealing with clients on a daily basis within companies and organisations both face to face and over the phone. This may entail dealing with clients with little or no IT knowledge through to skilled IT staff.The building, configuration and upgrading (hardware) of servers and PC's with various operating systems.Basic installation of Microsoft 2000/2003 Server.The onsite support both hardware and software for a national motor company.The installation, configuration and support of windows 95/98/NT4.0 workstation, 2000/XP Professional client PC's and laptops with all versions of MS Office on NT4.0/2000/2003 server and Novell networks.Giving basic training to end users on use and maintenance of new equipment.The design, implementation and overseeing of all types of structured cabling, ranging from 1 to 2500 cables including server room design.The installation of wireless networking in multi-site configurations.Working with INTY Servers and SnapGears for IPSEC as well as PPTP VPN access.The research and purchase for customer specific requests in regards to structured cabling cabinet room designs.Full site audits of both hardware and software.
