Manage a team of human factors specialists, operations analysts, and technical editors who support research at the FAA Research and Development Human Factors Laboratory (RDHFL). Supervise team activities and schedules, review and edit draft deliverables written by the team, and report progress to the customer. Communicate within the corporation about how essential human factors input is throughout the development cycle. Support acquisition of contracts, writing proposals and reports. Support the FAA RDHFL as a representative for human factors in a multidisciplinary team devoted to iterative development of Traffic Flow Management (TFM) software. Develop high-fidelity mockups and simulated walk-throughs of new TFM tools and procedures, and discuss their implications with a team consisting of traffic managers, program officers, software engineers, and TFM experts. Observe users during operational testing, track human factors requirements and identify new human factors issues. Conduct formal usability evaluations in the field and in laboratory settings, and write reports documenting findings. Consulted with FAA to improve noise and lighting conditions on the Command Center Operations Floor. For the TSA, conducted formal human-in-the-loop usability assessments of a graphical user interface for checked-baggage Explosives Detection Systems.
