I lead a team to support entrepreneurs in Salisbury and the Eastern Shore. We run student and community business plan competitions and operate the Rommel Center - a business incubator located in downtown Salisbury.

I am leading a team to build a pre-incubation startup program with a focus on microenterprises - people with side hustles, gig economy workers, freelancers, solopreneurs, artists, and inventors. We emphasize lean startup principles to accelerate the deployment of innovative business models and student companies. We help between 50-100 entrepreneurs annually with business plans, financing applications, marketing, prototyping, training, and related services. We have created a number of supporting programs, including a Ghost Kitchen, Fabrication Center, Prototype Grant, Microloan, and Internship Program.

Teach business courses related to entrepreneurship, management, marketing, and international business as a full-time faculty member. Develop curriculum for new business courses. Serve on the college's Technology Committee. I created a training program for entrepreneurship students using an open multiplayer simulation.

Teaching entrepreneurship and international business courses to students in the evenings - authoring curriculum, creating lesson plans, delivering lectures, etc. Part of a team in the Business Department developing new courses to roll out the college's new Bachelors Degree in Business.

I formed Market Invasion, LLC to commercialize the Market Invasion Framework - a business life-cycle model that can be used to analyze a company's current position and future direction. When applied successfully, the Framework helps companies understand their current obstacles and where to apply their time and resources in order to solve growth challenges. I also support technology companies through business development, market research and grant/proposal writing.

Back in the USA, but still managing innovative projects in Europe and Africa related to information technology, cyber defense, logistics, and e-learning. I lead various international business development efforts. I founded (in 2012) and coordinate CTC's International Markets Community of Practice - a voluntary cross-functional group of professionals supporting and growing CTC's international business operations.

I relocated to Brussels, Belgium, in 2009 to support the company’s expansion into international operations as one of only two internationally-based business developers. I penetrated new markets including several NATO agencies and US aid organizations – securing new IT, cyber security, quality management, web-based training, and energy technology projects in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. I combined both internal stakeholders from multiple operating units and external business partners to form international and cross-functional teams to pursue new business opportunities and implement complex technical projects. Despite the difficulties of increasing austerity measures in Europe and defense budget cutbacks in the US during this period, these efforts supported the rapid rise in company international business revenues with annual growth rates exceeding 25%. I routinely helped the company define new operational procedures and navigate complex cultural and international business issues as we pioneered new areas of business practice.

While completing my MBA, I transitioned into technology commercialization and transition support. I developed technology demonstration and validation plans for the National Defense Center for Energy and Environment (NDCEE) and led market research activities for government R&D funding proposals. With funding from US defense laboratories, I authored commercialization plans for small business startups and university spin-off companies with military-applicable technologies, including software, advanced materials, coatings, and sensors. I also profiled international technology industries and led corporate business development efforts. During this period, I created two web-based tools using PHP and MySQL. First, I created a web-based job support aid for a disabled veterans support group which reports expected veteran benefits based on the US Department of Veterans Affairs’ complex guidelines for disability calculations. Second, I built a specialized Content Management System (CMS) for managing over 30 public outreach websites for local governments – making it possible for project managers to self-report status updates, post news items, and maintain other content. In addition, I acted as an interim director for a transitional housing program in Columbia, South Carolina, and assisted nonprofits in rural South Carolina to connect with the state’s job resources.

Early in my career, I addressed local and regional development challenges through tech-based economic development projects. I conducted research and analysis to support workforce studies and training programs in high-tech industry clusters such as information technology, biotechnology, environmental services, transportation management, and chemical manufacturing. I supported brownfields redevelopment in communities across the southeastern United States by securing US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grants for environmental assessment activities on behalf of city and county governments in South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Virginia. In addition, I coordinated outreach for local government brownfields initiatives by creating press releases, websites, and brochures. I also led grassroots nonprofit capacity building and training projects.

I consulted on miscellaneous ventures, including work with the University of Texas IC² Institute Global Commercialization Group (http://www.ic2.utexas.edu/global/) conducting technology assessments and market reviews for small businesses in India and South Korea. Other projects have included business planning and marketing support for an international recruiter and a Belgian IT staffing company. In 2012 I formed the company Market Invasion to expand my operations and support a new client. I also provided strategic planning and capacity building assistance on a volunteer basis to a nonprofit which coordinates volunteer service projects for Brussels’ disadvantaged populations.
