Michael Hilliard Email and Phone Number
I have over thirty years of experience in communications, with twenty-five years spent as a creative director and senior designer. My portfolio showcases an ability to deliver effective marketing across various platforms for clients, including small businesses, universities, and Fortune 50 companies. My world intersects at the four corners of ideas, images, ink, and electrons, and my professional role is to captivate people through highly visual/narrative storytelling. The most rewarding work has brought clarity, personality, and increased awareness and depth of understanding to clients, including non-profits, educational institutions, technology companies, and (believe it or not) law firms. Most projects center on a strong conceptual component, and bonus points go to clients willing to incorporate novel approaches to achieve their marketing goals.Leading creative efforts and storytelling are my strengths. I also collaborate easily with talent, agencies, PR firms, management, and, most importantly, clients. My best work involves integrating creative concepts with business strategy. I work closely with designers, writers, illustrators, and photographers to craft compelling messages for a specific audience. I take pride in my ability to create powerful messaging that is adaptable across various media formats such as print, interactive, web, video, and audio. I have been delivering communications and marketing across different mediums for many years, showcasing my versatility and adaptability.I'm known for being enthusiastic and articulate in helping businesses focus on their objectives while also bringing in creative storytelling. I believe in clear communication, avoiding unnecessary jargon, standing firm when needed, and building business ideas around stories and concepts. My firm is named after a group of painters, writers, and sculptors who were inspired by the emerging technology and industry of the early 20th century. Given the current fast-paced and converging media landscape, it feels like the right fit for today's world.

President/Creative DirectorMhilliard Associates, Inc. Jan 1999 - Jun 2002Seattle, Washington, United StatesMicrosoft approached us to create a way to commemorate its 25th anniversary. “InsideOut: Microsoft, in Our Own Words” was a 15-month assignment, resulting in a 328-page coffee table book and website sharing stories, research, and contextual portraits from 800 employees, celebrating the big ideas and people that made the company great. My role was responsible for concept development, defining project scope and budgets, creating a prototype and style guides, adding creative partners, and directing a core team of writers, designers, illustrators, producers and staff.
