About Michael Diedring
After receiving his juris doctor in the United States, Michael began what he expected would be a traditional legal career with law firms in Boston and Washington, D.C., reaching the position of partner. A “short sabbatical” to assist in law reform throughout Central and Eastern Europe ultimately led to his relocation to the region. Now based in Europe, Michael has opened a regional investment fund for small and medium sized enterprise, helped create and direct an Executive MBA institute in Lithuania, managed a multi-million dollar legal assistance project in Albania, worked on global commercial law matters from London as Deputy Director of the International Bar Association, orchestrated a period of significant growth as Executive Director of the CEELI Institute in Prague and led efforts to reform legal education in Georgia. For the past six years, Michael has been deeply involved in refugee and migration matters in Europe, first as Secretary General of ECRE (European Council on Refugees and Exiles), then EPIM Director, and most recently in groundbreaking work on refugee inclusion.Michael is an entrepreneurial international executive with strength in articulating and implementing vision through decisive, results-oriented leadership. He builds, grows and transforms organizations and institutions into strong, sustainable performers.
