Austrade is the Australian Trade and Investment Commission; my role is Advanced Manufacturing Service & Technology (AMST), Senior Investment Advisor – Defence. Supporting the investment activities of international defence companies seeking to develop business activities in Australia. The key driver in the current program is working with Western European suppliers to Naval Group for the SEA 1000 Future Submarine and the bidders for SEA 5000 Future Frigate and SEA 1180 Future OPV projects. Austrade offices in Western Europe are identifying potential suppliers and AMS&T are developing Investment Responses for these companies. The activity will steadily increase as more companies seek investment information. My previous experience allows me to support other AMS&T investment activities.Previous Roles at Austrade include ; • 2016 Investment Advisor R&E – Sustainable Energy. During the review period I managed the group that developed the Austrade Major Projects Process. I was also a member of the team developing the Austrade Opportunities Process.

Metaltec is an Aerospace Tooling and Precision Engineering company. The role of National BDM undertook the restructuring of Business Development and Sales and Marketing activities. This involved strengthening the company’s position within its established manufacturing sectors of Aerospace, Defence, Automotive and General Engineering. Activities included developing strategies for participating in defence offset programs and diversifying into new industry sectors, including; Aircraft maintenance, pharmaceutical and biomedical industries.

This role developed business opportunities in International markets for Sports, Events, Infrastructure, Engineering and IT companies through an extensive network of contacts. Provided consultation to Government and Industry in the form of opportunity development, formation of consortia, the introduction of manufacturing capability and technology holders, the introduction of design capability and construction technology to projects. The MELBOURNE 2006 Commonwealth Games Industry Programs Manager, interacted with Austrade to promote Business Development through Sport. Working with The Federal Government, Victoria, NSW and Queensland through the Australian International Sports and Events Secretariat (AISES) - resulting in the highly successful Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games industry program and programs for program Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games. During this period Michael also managed the Industry program for the development of the Australian Synchrotron Project.

DigiGuard was an IT services company that specialised in the delivery of Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions for companies with a reliance on data storage and data integrity. This position carried the responsability for Business Development and managing the companies day to day operations. DigiGuard provides DR consulting and data storage solutions to major corporations across diverse industries. Companies include; AMCOR (packaging), Siemens (IT outsourcing), Siemens Industries (electronics) and TXU (power distribution). DigiGuard was Telstras preferred supplier of DR services through the Telstra Partner Program.DigiGuard was purchased by global storage giant Iron Mountain to establish the company in Australia.
