About Michael Beaton

Over 25 years experience consulting, designing and implementing technical business systems. Yes Consulting is based on the core notion that problems are best understood and solved from a positive point of view of "Yes". That there is a solution to any problem if we can ask the right questions and be open to the answers. Sometimes the answer is a better question. I bring a solution-oriented, pragmatic & systems perspective to the projects I am engaged with. I have experience across 15 major business sectors, including Finance, Medical Systems, University Management, Oil Industry, Transportation, Sales & Marketing, Human Resources, Pension Systems, Employee Compensation, Business Development, Construction and Accounting Systems. I specialize in working with the leadership of an organization to discover what I call the "Center of the Wheel". What is the central purpose of the organization or division within the organization? I have found if this is properly understood, Project Design and Implementation will go smoothly and with a high degree of success.I enjoy the challenge of turning an idea into a project and managing the project to successful completion across all components of a company or organization. I use business consulting, coaching, finding solutions, systems thinking, project definition and management, database design, application design and development, writing & teaching to participate with individuals, teams, and organizations to understand the nature and structure of the issues they are dealing with, and develop the projects & requirements to solve them. When I'm not at work, you can find behind a camera (http://yesphotography.zenfolio.com/), enjoying the great outdoors or enjoying the view from high above the ground as a rated flight instructor single engine, private glider & student helicopter.

Listed skills include Strategic Planning, Saas, Program Management, Event Management, and 41 others.

24. Employee & Pension Systems, developed systems to collect the relevant data from client companies and develop the full range of products from retirement planning, 401k management, and employee compensation packages. Mergers & Acquisitions & Company spin offs had a built-in challenge. A major part of managing the process of large companies purchasing other companies or spinning off divisions is the employee benefit packages. These are complex, unique, projects that require a great deal of legal, actuarial, financial planning & employee tracking. Using these systems, many millions of $$ and many months of time was saved or better used.25. Construction includes; General Construction Seattle. William M Mercer

Greater Seattle Area

The Seattle office of Mercer was a leader in technical innovations for their clients. Eventually, the effort was picked up and implemented as a company wide initiative. I worked as a consultant for 2 years. As an employee for 3 years followed by another 2 years as a consultant. In this position I worked with many of the top companies in the Fortune 500, often working directly with upper management at the CIO, CFO, HR and occasionally the CEO level. These were the days when sophisticated database systems were becoming viable on the PC platform. To implement the complex Human Resource systems Mercer was offering to its clients it required collaboration between the client's HR department, the client's Information Services for data and Mercer. These systems were implemented in a number of large companies. (Details on request)Designed & Implemented a Pension calculation system that was installed on customer computers. This was a new innovation at the time, moving the task of calculating benefits to the company HR department. Designed & implemented a 401k system. This system collected all relevant data via payroll records and provided up to date reporting and on-demand valuation statements. This required developing data exchange interfaces working with the client IS department that would be accurate and easy to use by non technical staff.Designed and developed interfaces to ADP payroll systems. Designed a complete Accounting system. This was before Quickbooks or any other system was available on the PC platform. Including GL, AR, AP, Inventory, Personal systems, skills database, Time Collection systems used by employees that fed the ADP payroll system. Consulted and implemented ad hoc HR and Payroll department information requests.
