I am a Scottish qualified Lawyer and General Counsel with a wealth of in-house and private practice experience, delivering flexible legal and commercial solutions. I advise on corporate legal, risk mitigation, regulatory, compliance, governance and company secretarial matters that span £BN cross-border operations, across a diverse stakeholder landscape.My career started at Burness Paul LLP in 2002, where I trained in commercial property, media and technology, and corporate, including an extended seat in energy, oil and gas. Upon qualifying in 2004, I transitioned to Legal 500 law firm, Shepherd & Wedderburn LLP, where I built strong client networks as part of the Energy and Utilities team. Here, I structured and negotiated complex commercial agreements on multi-jurisdictional transactions.I was seconded to Scottish Power during this time, where I supported the landmark British Electricity Trading and Transmission industry reforms that resulted in a fully competitive British-wide market for the trading of electricity.In 2008, I joined Scottish Power Energy Networks as Divisional Solicitor, and was promoted to Legal Director of Corporate Services at Scottish Power. I implemented a customer-focused corporate legal strategy that added value to commercial business, nurtured talent and streamlined resources. I was a Director of the Group pension scheme, Company Secretary, and secretary to Group Audit and Compliance Committee. During my time at ScottishPower I have enhanced stability and compliance, embedded best practice process, negotiated agreements on optimum terms, protected group interests and leveraged commercial growth.In 2023, I joined Last Mile Infrastructure Group as Head of Legal.
