The Forge App hosts hand curated digital trail maps, which are verified internally by the team. We pride ourselves on highly accurate data which aims to keep the end user safe and informed while exploring the great outdoor spaces South Africa has to offer. We continuously work with local authorities and owners to make sure the information we share is as accurate and relevant. Recently we partnered with Cape Nature, arguably one of the most prominent nature and environmental authorities in South Africa and certainly the biggest in the Western Cape. They have seen the value of precise, update to date and user friendly digital maps for keeping their guests safe. On a personal level I look after the app development and coding, and assist in the map making, database management and GIS side of the company. I started Forge in 2017 with an idea to make hiking more accessible and safe for the average weekend adventurer. What started with a dream, sketches on notepad and rudimentary web maps culminated in an app which is slowly gaining traction and being adopted by authorities and owners around the country as well as some large outdoor merchandisers, as the go to platform.
