I've worked in financial services for over twenty years, in roles touching every part of the financial planning process. From administration to general management, my skills and experience have transferred well to business development and consultancy, where I'm focused on growth, efficiency, business planning, and connecting people.I enjoy helping people discover their potential, and relish working with positive stakeholders who want to improve themselves, their teams, and their organisations. I’m focused on clarity, process, growth and relationships. And I love destroying lists.I invest daily in myself to improve all parts of my life, creating satisfaction for myself and others – I aim to add value in some way in every interaction. I network to find people who can be of help to others. I like to identify problems, inefficiencies, gaps, imbalances, shortfalls, and opportunities; then work towards overcoming, improving, mitigating, removing, or seizing as appropriate. With a growth mindset, conscious gratitude, integrity and energy, the more organised, prepared and persistent I am, the better the outcomes. Funny that. And I couldn’t be more organised if I tried, so I welcome accountability. Sure, there’s the odd Black Swan, but I believe process, routine, habit and discipline repeatedly create progress and results. I've had success with my skillset, and found that growth and progress start with curiosity, recognising the obstacle or goal, planning with milestones, remaining accountable and resilient, and working on that plan every day. • Self-management• Time management• B2B • Relationship management • Stakeholder engagement• Employer relations• Business planning• Business process modelling• Process improvement• Business development• Sales process• Solutions-based sales• Investment philosophy• Product integration• Insurance philosophy• Change management• Project management• Networking• Strategic introductions• Compliance consultation• Advice audit• Client engagement• Business coaching• Mentorship• Event presentation• Personal coaching• Empathic leadership• Team building• Budget management

Business Development ManagerInsignia Financial Jun 2022 - PresentBrisbane, AustraliaRepresenting Insignia (formerly IOOF), I help financial planning businesses grow efficiently by matching their clients' needs to the products they use. My role is to grow Insignia’s share of wallet by demonstrating the benefits of our extensive range of superannuation platforms to advice businesses and their clients. -
Practice Development ManagerMlc Australia Mar 2019 - Oct 2021Brisbane, AustraliaIn this role, I managed the relationship between the licensee and the network of business owners, directors, financial advisers, paraplanners and support staff within the businesses on my Queensland panel of financial planning businesses. Authentic stakeholder and relationship management was critical in delivering growth and efficiently. A key requirement in this role was driving growth in funds/assets under management (FUM/AUM) and increasing business revenue on my panel of businesses.I enjoyed working with this team of genuinely warm colleagues with vast experience and a client-centric passion for business growth...I enjoyed the cultural fit and challenging role expectations. -
Head Of OperationsProfile Financial Services Apr 2015 - Jul 2018Sydney And Parramatta, AustraliaWith three years in a similar management role, I wanted to extend myself. Working in a self-licensed business was my choice of challenge. My responsibility at Profile was the daily and ongoing operations of this well-established, but evolving, Sydney-based financial planning company. I spent my days working on and managing projects, implementing process improvements, leading change, managing stakeholders, and working with my colleagues to improve the services we provided our clients. And trouble-shooting of course.Part of the Leadership Team, my reports were the Compliance Manager, Marketing Manager, Client Services Manager and team of administrators. Profile Financial Services was growing and maturing, and it was great to be a part of a collaborative, transparent and efficient business with a huge future. There were constant challenges through the business's accelerated growth because no business can't be improved; but the great attitude of my team and the excellent leadership group made it a pleasure to get up each day and contribute to something bigger than the sum of its parts. -
General ManagerSydney Financial Planning Apr 2014 - Mar 2015Sydney And Wollongong, AustraliaUpon promotion, my goals were to improve our internal business efficiencies, and to work closely with everyone in our business to achieve their personal and professional goals. On a macro level, I was charged with delivering the financial and cultural outcomes our business had set for itself. It was this combination of big and little picture thinking that defined the difference between Operations Manager and General Manager. -
Operations ManagerSydney Financial Planning Oct 2011 - Apr 2014Sydney And Wollongong, AustraliaI knew I could add value organisations in an operational role with my love of process and order, and I was lucky enough to be contacted by Sydney Financial Planning, where I'd worked previously as an adviser. They were looking for an Operations Manager, and I knew the business well. I was to know it even better shortly."Operations Manager" can seem an ambiguous job title. I'd sum it up simply as ensuring the day to day actions of every one in our team was carried out efficiently and effectively to serve our common goal - to deliver the value we promised to our clients. Add to this the implementation of new processes to improve our service delivery and you'd have described my work days, weeks and months. -
Banking And Finance RecruiterChandler Macleod Jun 2010 - Oct 2011Sydney, AustraliaThis was a big change for me. After eight years in financial planning roles, I wanted to try something different, but take advantage of my financial services knowledge and contacts. I knew from recruiters that although recruitment can be transactional, it can also afford the opportunity to forge long term relationship with both employers and candidates. After meeting with Chandler Macleod, I underwent rigorous testing and was granted admission into their "Recruitment Academy" programme. In this role, I was a specialist recruitment consultant to the Financial Services industry for roles in Project Management, Business Analytics, Financial Planning and Accounting. The largely unregulated nature of the industry was a complete change for me. And as Chandler Macleod sat on no recruitment panels within my remit, I found for the first time in my career that commitment to activity didn't result in the outcomes I sought. This role required immense resilience. Thankfully I learned much which I could transfer to future roles, including strategic business development and focused networking. -
Financial PlannerCommonwealth Bank Of Australia Jun 2008 - Jun 2010Sydney, AustraliaAfter my previous role in a smaller organisation, I felt the time was right to work with one of the largest AFSL holders in Australia. The approach to advice was different, and more corporate in terms of scaled processes. It saw me coaching bank branch staff to identify leads, while also opening their eyes to the benefits of financial advice. My interest in process was fueled further in this environment. I undertook significant business development activity and I enjoyed working in my small team on Sydney's North Shore, but began thinking that financial planning roles were not suited to me. The focus was more on transactional relationships than productive longer-term ones. -
Financial PlannerSydney Financial Planning Jun 2005 - Jun 2008Sydney, AustraliaThe financial planning industry had changed a lot since the introduction of the Financial Services Reform Act of 2001, particularly in relation to licensing and compliance. This role was my first in the front line, meeting clients and giving financial advice. It was a steep learning curve, but a confidence building one all the same. In addition to engaging new clients and servicing existing clients, I serviced a variety of corporate superannuation accounts, dealing often with employers and their employees. This involved presenting to the members at events, managing the employer relationship on behalf of Sydney Financial Planning, and converting members to personal financial planning clients of our business where appropriate. Working in this "small" business for three years allowed me to learn by closely working with experienced planners. Intensive business development was required to develop the required sales pipeline and this role taught me much about sales, particularly questioning and listening. -
ParaplannerUnicorp Group Jun 2003 - Jun 2005Sydney, AustraliaI supported the senior financial planner in meeting with clients and completing fact finds which I would then use to write financial plans to present to the client. This was a genuine taste of financial planning, but the business was too small to support another financial planner, so I needed to look elsewhere to gain that experience. -
Associate AdviserWilsons Jun 2002 - Jun 2004Sydney, AustraliaThis was my first role in financial services and I did my "apprenticeship" as an associate stockbroker and private portfolio manager.
