I am the eternal devil's advocate who has never shaken his attitude of New Jersey. However, I've always been one to ask (and mean it) what I can do to help, and I'm an excellent listener with the ability to absorb both big picture and minutiae at the same time (this might be my ‘super power’). Almost all of this has been applied to startups, accelerators, and venture capital firms. What do I do?Consulting: I’m the guy you come to with impossible problems. My consulting firm (Lightman Company) helps government, non-government, corporate, and university groups design and execute programs. What does that mean? Well, in the world of consulting, it generally means saying ‘yes’ to everything and bringing in brilliant people to execute. But it really means that I help design incentive programs (e.g. helping a government group figure out how to get more people to use climate tech products), accelerators, or new business units.Founder support: I'm also the person people turn to to critique their fundraising deck and help raise venture money. Having helped hundreds of founders, I learned that many would rather have the prep done for them instead of just getting advice. Hence, Hate Your Deck. We offer a done with you, done for you, and teach you option for founders between Pre-Seed through Series A.Book: I have a toddler and got a little tired of the books I have and continue to read him. As a huge sci-fi nerd (geek?), I started writing a goofy sci-fi adventure about him going on wacky adventures in space.Go ahead, I support you.
