“Second Chances” is a program sponsored by the City of Norfolk and operates under the umbrella of the Garden of Hope, CDC.We help formerly incarcerated men and women by providing comprehensive support services that lead to their success after incarceration. The program is designed to assist non-violent offenders and formerly incarcerated individuals with transitional support services that lead to economic and social stability and healthy lifestyles.We serve non-violent individuals living with the stigma of being labeled an ex-offender. Individuals having difficulty with employment, housing, substance, addiction issues, and other systematic barriers are able to obtain a positive re-entry experience into society.

VIEW is designed to help parents and their families achieve the goal of self-sufficiency. Allow families living below the federal poverty level to contribute to their goal of self-sufficiency. Help participants obtain work skills and experience. Instruct participants in Job Readiness and Job Searching.Worked on a reentry program that was aimed to helping formerly incarcerated people by reuniting them with their families. The program FSET (Food Stamps Employment and Training built on the growing nationwide momentum to ease and, or end high recidivism rates amongst Virginia Department of Corrections returning citizens. Programs participants were carefully screened for assistance prior to their release from prison and provided case management services from reentry service providers. The goal was to eventually keep formerly incarcerated individuals from returning to prison.
