I am a first-generation college student who graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Human Biology with an accompanying minor in Psychology. I enjoy bringing awareness around underrepresented communities and love that I am able to give back to other first-generation, low-income, and current/former youth who have experienced the foster care system or homelessness.I am an enthusiastic learner who strives to be successful in anything I do. I am respectful, compassionate, honest, and caring. My professional goals are to be happy in my career and find a career where I can have the most impact on other people's lives.My passion is investing in other people's future, which excites me about being in the Student Affairs/Higher Education industry. There are so many opportunities to mentor and share some of my personal lived experience. There is nothing more rewarding.

I oversee the day-to-day activities of the organization across our seven core impact states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, ensuring Rise is managed and performing efficiently and effectively. I will also serve on the Executive Leadership Team to ensure that our policies, procedures, goals, and strategies remain fully aligned with Rise's overall work culture and mission/values. I report directly to the Chief Operating Officer & Senior Communications Advisor to the CEO.Functions Include: Defining, implementing, and revising operational policies and guidelines that will improve Rise’s day-to-day operations; Leading the implementation of Rise’s culture goals; Working with Rise’s Executive Leadership to ensure Rise’s work environment is safe for all employees at all levels; Developing job descriptions, hiring competent personnel and overseeing employee onboarding and training programs; Assisting the Director of Basic Needs in addressing student basic needs through continued direct support, advocacy, and consultation; Developing staff evaluation parameters (Rise’s biannual 360 Reviews); Managing Rise’s benefits programs (medical, dental, vision insurance; 401(k), etc.); Ensuring operational compliance across the organization and externally; Managing tax season with Rise’s bookkeeper; Managing state tax registrations and required state audits; Running payroll and reimbursements for the organization; Sourcing necessary vendors and implementing relationships for the benefit of organizational priorities

Basic Needs Program Manager

Under a partnership with the University of Southern California (USC) and the Good Neighbors Grant (GN), I was tasked with creating a direct service program modeled after Rise's Student Navigator Network. The difference? This was created to be more like a collaborative, with the program working with USC and two non-profits (Foster Nation to support folx with experience in the foster care system and Southern California College Attainment Network). 300+ Students were supported all across California with getting their basic needs met so they can remain enrolled in college. We employed two amazing peer Navigators (@Jazmin Rojas Resendez and @Elijah Bennett).

This involves identifying, planning, accessing, advocating for, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating resources, supports, and services.
