Using my knowledge on vitamin B1 metabolism, I wrote a 6-month NGS project on using RNA as a drug target . This project was funded by the CTI and was offered a Maître assistant position. I am now working in biofortification in plants, focusing on vitamin transporter, biosynthetic gene and enzyme activities of carbon metabolism. I am also in charge of setting up, maintain large laboratory equipment (qPCR, HPLC and luminescence camera). I teach, train and help my colleagues to make most of these tools. Following the discovery of riboswitches in Algae, I have been awarded with a Marie Curie fellowship. Joining Teresa Fitzpatrick’s group, I have extended my knowledge on protein biochemistry and B vitamin biofortification. I have successfully completed the project that gave rise to another publication in high impact journal. Within her group, I also established new analytical methods for routine B vitamin determination by HPLC.

During this position, I gained a solid background in plant metabolism, and also a wide range of technical skills necessary to comprehend metabolic pathways from the gene to the metabolite. This also allowed me to develop analytical tools and gave rise to several publications, notably one addressing an important model of intracellular communication between organelles in plants. I have become skilled in the use of analytical methods indispensable to comprehend plant metabolism and play an important role in metabolite analysis within the department of Plant Sciences and was given the responsibility to set up and manage the departmental LCMS analytical facility. I was also instrumental in the discovery of an exciting system of metabolic regulation of vitamin B1, called riboswitches, in green algae.
