Michael Ott is retired, but willing to consider unique opportunities. He is an award-winning employee who consistently finds innovative solutions to seemingly insolvable problems. He has been recognized by organizations multiple times in his career for innovation in both engineering and business leadership: Innovators in Action, The Marketeer of the Year (twice), The Inventor of the Year (twice), President's Sales Club. He nearly doubled annual revenue in 18 months during his expatriate assignment to lead the cable business in Europe following a merger of elements of three companies. Michael is also sole or primary inventor for more than 40 utility patents.He was recently Principal Engineer, Global Fiber Optic Innovations at CommScope. Before this, he was Program Manager, Global Fiber Optic Innovations at Commscope. Prior to this position, he was Program Manager, New Business Development at CommScope where he worked to drive initiatives to improve revenue and profitability. Before CommScope, Michael was a consultant for Acuity Edge assisting clients with evaluation and marketing of client-owned intellectual property portfolios leading to fuller leveraging of their market value. Before Acuity Edge, Michael was President of Creative Consumer Products, Incorporated – a start-up company formed to bring a portfolio of new, novel consumer goods to the marketplace with emphasis on retail and promotional opportunities.Prior to forming Creative, Michael excelled in various management and technical positions in Operations, Product Line Management, and Product Development within Corning Cable Systems, a subsidiary of Corning, Incorporated. Michael improved profitability within Corning by more than $100M during his career, in part while managing Corning’s $500M cable business in an expatriate assignment in Europe. Michael began his career with the United States Navy as an Engineering Officer while serving onboard ballistic missile submarines. During his Naval career he received multiple Letters of Commendation for his performance of multiple duties assigned. Michael works to improve the human condition whenever possible. He has worked on dozens of homes for Habitat for Humanity, volunteered services in support of St. Judes Children's Hospital and Second Harvest Food Bank, and donated multiple gallons of blood. He was a member a community service club for ten years, including roles as President, Vice President, and Treasurer. He won a Community Spark Award for his work helping low income families in North Carolina.
