A neonatologist and clinical informaticist, my primary interests involve facilitating the use of standards and interoperability for Health Information Exchange within and among Children's Hospitals:-Vice-Chair of the Children's Hospital Neonatal Consortium (CHNC), which focuses on quality improvement among Level IV neonatal ICUs and created the Children's Hospital Neonatal Database in collaboration with the Children's Hospital Association (CHA) -Co-chair, HL7 Patient Care Working Group (previously Co-chair of the Child Health Work Group) contributing to standards for FHIR resources, Clinical Document Architecture, and for Electronic Health Record Functional Profiles-Co-chair of the Data and Terminology Work Group of the International Neonatal Consortium aiming to forge a predictable regulatory path for evaluating the safety and effectiveness of therapies for neonates-Member of the Technical Standards Committee of the HealthShare Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania (HSX), a Health Information Exchange (HIE) Prior roles include:-Member of the Pediatric Terminology Governance Committee, an initiative of the National Institute of Child Health and Development (NICHD) and Pediatric EHR Data Sharing Network (PEDSNet) supporting terminology harmonization, working in conjunction with the National Cancer Institute's Enterprise Vocabulary Services (EVS)-Member of the Technical Advisory Panel for the Electronic Health Information Capacity in Pediatrics, an initiative supported by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-Subject matter expert for terminology mapping and data modeling for the Global Rare Disease Registry, supported by a PROMIS grant of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-Executive Committee Member of the Global Alignment of Immunization Safety Assessment in pregnancy (GAIA), an initiative of the Bill and Melinda Gates FoundationSpecialties: Biomedical Informatics (Standards and Interoperability, Terminology, Data Modeling, Clinical Decision Support)
