Involved in multiple aspects of caring for a fleet of over three dozen different donated vessels used for maritime training at the US Merchant Marine Academy, from being vessel crew for programs and deliveries to shipyard project manager. The vessels and their jobs had me working everywhere on the Eastern Seaboard from Maine to Florida.

South Street Seaport, New York

- PIC responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Museum's fleet of stationary historic vessels, tugboat, workspaces, barge, pier, and waterfront infrastructure- Worked directly under Museum Executive Director and coordinated with other local corporate and government personnel on all operational logistics for the waterfront- On call 24/7 for any emergency or security incident at the Museum, both at waterfront and in district. Oversaw safety aspect of all shipboard events and activities. Created and implemented emergency response plans in coordination with FDNY and NYPD. Created and implemented periodic training programs and workshops regarding OSHA-standard occupational safety, marlinespike seamanship, and any other topics directly related to shipboard maintenance for staff and volunteers- One of approximately a dozen full-time staff for entire institution during interim period still recovering from Superstorm Sandy- Expanded professional and volunteer waterfront personnel and supervised staff crew and a corps of volunteers and interns (100+ people) in performing vessel checks and routine maintenance and renewed major restoration projects to the historic museum vessels.- Created budgets for ships and waterfront, managed requisitions, invoices, and payments, and handled accounting and financials for waterfront department with outsourced financial firm. Handled payroll and HR for all Waterfront Crew and Volunteer Coordinator- Heavily involved in the preparation for sending 130-year old iron ship WAVERTREE to Caddell Dry Dock for one-year $13+million NYC-funded restoration project. Involved thereafter in some project management with shipyard personnel, naval architects, city officials, et al- Assisted schooners PIONEER and LETTIE G. HOWARD crew with operational needs, as necessary- Involved in programming, marketing, fundraising, education, events, and all other operations for the Museum outside normal waterfront concerns

Gulf Of Mexico / East Coast

199GRT ocean-going tug CAPT. FRED BOUCHARD, with 158k bbl DL black oil barge B275 in ATB unit- Performed daily routine maintenance, cleaning, inventory, and cooking while standing continuous 6hr navigational watches in a 30 day on - 15 day off hitch rotation- Trained new ABs after assuming senior deckhand position aboard tugboat- Alternated hitches as cook. Responsible for effectively carrying out provisioning for crew- Familiarized with SMS and participated in several internal and external audits. Participated in regular emergency drills- Closely studied under mates and captains to learn functions necessary for safe operations at all levels and to prepare for license and certification advancement- Sailed in Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi River, East Coast

Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada

299GRT sail-assist breakbulk cargo/passenger vessel TIARE TAPORO- Major refit and conversion project, transforming former North Atlantic side trawler into a sail-assist cargo/passenger ship - Worked with small, dedicated crew; trained and supervised volunteer labor- Carried out nearly entire ship’s-worth of metal preparation and coating- In charge of installation of rough interior strapping carpentry

284GRT barque PICTON CASTLE- Worked on all aspects of ship maintenance, fabrication, and repair while ship was laid up in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada through summer and winter- Cared for vessel with three other crew, i.e. mooring lines, snow/ice, shore power, systems, etc- Crewed several traditional schooners and small sailing craft on summer weekends around Nova Scotia- Assisted with wooden boatbuilding projects at “The Dory Shop” in Lunenburg

Global Circumnavigation

Lifeguard at two outdoor pools, one indoor pool, and two lake beaches at private community in the Poconos. Certified annually in Professional First Responder Level First Aid, CPR, AED and Lifeguarding.Also worked separately for "Snack Bars" at the outdoor pools when not on-duty as lifeguard.
