Promoted into this newly created role, I provide leadership and strategic direction for the largest portfolio in the business. I am accountable for delivery of client services and all major supply contracts through a mixture of employees and subcontractors. With over 100 personnel in my division and several dozen vendors to manage, I play a crucial role in optimisation and process improvement.

As a member of the senior leadership team, I play the lead role in developing business strategy through innovation and product development. I am accountable for IT strategy, project management, and leading a software engineering team in a DevSecOps model.By applying skills in vendor management and business analysis, I reduced IT OPEX by more than 30%. This achievement took place whilst concurrently reducing risk and improving IT services continuity by migrating platforms from on-premises to cloud-based and virtual solutions. Supervisor in the Department of Computing & Information Systems.Supervisor of penultimate and final year undergraduate students and masters students undertaking projects in Software Engineering. In this role I am both a mentor and a teacher to students as they apply their knowledge in a practical environment.The projects teach technical and managerial skills in software engineering, including quality process design, business analysis and project management. The students undertake software development projects for clients in a real-world environment, completing the software development lifecycle by undertaking requirements elicitation and analysis, software design, software development and integration, testing and product release.By engaging with students in the classroom, in workshops and in real-world scenarios I impart technical knowledge as well as mentor students through the projects. As an experienced educator I've been directly involved in the design and evolution of the curriculum into the University's “Melbourne Model” course structure, having also received an Excellence in Tutoring Award in 2009.

IT Manager & CIO in the Faculty of ScienceIn the newly created role of IT Manager, my responsibility was to transition and transform IT services from a localised and dispersed operation to a centralised and coordinated service centre. Establishing a new operating model with over 30 IT professionals reporting through to me, I initiated and delivered the consolidation of infrastructure platforms and put in place new governance and policy frameworks.By providing support to over 800 staff and several thousand students across 10 departments, I led services that enabled scientific research, medical research, clinical health care and education. Senior Software Engineer in the Department of Computer Science & Software Engineering.As a leader in the Technical Services team I provided technical expertise in software engineering to support the academic endeavours of the CSSE Department. I supervised and mentored several full-time and casual staff in undertaking several teaching and administrative related IT projects, advancing a positive culture of engagement and close collaboration with the academic community.At the conclusion of 2007 as part of an organisational restructure of the School, our team was combined into a newly established School of Engineering IT services unit. I was appointed to a new managerial role, supervising a larger team and delivering projects to a larger customer base.

Web Developer in the Information Technology Services Division (Central IT Services for the University).As a member of the "Campus Wide Information Systems" team I was responsible for developing, integrating and maintaining software, and providing end user support to staff across The University of Melbourne. Our solutions included the integration and deployment of administrative enterprise tools, the University's first web content management system, backend integration systems for the University's web presence, new library services and teaching related applications.

Developer and Help Desk for the University's Learning Management System (WebRAFT) in the Information Technology Services Division (Central IT Services for the University).WebRAFT was the University's first learning management system - essentially a content management system with a number of specialised teaching tools integrated to the platform. My role primarily involved maintenance of the existing applications and providing first and second-level support to students and staff across the University.

Help Desk officer in the Department of Computer Science & Software Engineering.The Help Desk provided first-level IT support to students and staff in the Department. In addition to my front-line support duties, I held responsibilities for maintaining the online user documentation and providing after-hours lab supervision.

The Melbourne PC User Group is a non-profit organisation supporting members with interests in a wide range of computer and electronic related activities. At the time of my involvement in the Internet Admin Team there were over 7,000 club members.The Internet Admin Team provide systems infrastructure administration and support services to the club. As a team of volunteers, we support services including dial-up internet, server infrastructure, web hosting and email.

The Melbourne PC User Group is a non-profit organisation supporting members with interests in a wide range of computer and electronic related activities. During my term of office the group's membership was in excess of 7,000 people.With its mission of members helping members, my election to the management committee came at a pivotal time for the club when significant strategic change was needed. Over the two-years of my volunteer appointment we stabilised the finances, reinvigorated training services and relocated the club to improved and more sustainable facilities.

I served as the club's Vice President for six months during my elected term on the management committee.

The company was called "Web Design Group" (WDG) at the time I was employed there. I held a contractor position in the web publishing team to develop the new Ford South Africa website.
