Working for the UK Business Unit I was ultimately responsible for the deliverance of critical business unit initiatives to drive improvements in our commercial performance and overall business offering. Such projects included; 1) Complete renegotiation of 1 million HL commercial arrangement with large partner distributor including sales, finance, marketing, people, legal and manufacturing elements. Significantly improving Business Top Line and EBITDA.2) Integration of 750,000 hectolitre (HL) cider portfolio. Implemented full systems set-up, operational processes and commercial sales and trade marketing strategy with minimal business disruption. 3) Brexit lead coordinating the cross-functional prioritisation, development and completion of actions to ensure readiness despite a period of significant uncertainty.4) UK lead for launch of Old Blue Last Beer with VICE Media, coordinating £1.3mio budgeted plan for inter-company marketing, sales and international supply.5) Accelerated office closure and relocation of 420 people from three locations to one London office.6) Design and implementation of a futuristic consumer centric innovation process.I was an active member of the UK leadership team, helping to drive the strategic direction of the Business Unit. This role was fantastic for the continued development of many of my transferable skills including project management, problem solving & analytics, financial planning & budget control, leadership of cross-functional teams and third party vendors.Furthermore, I was able to gain qualifications in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and the methodology and practical application of design thinking with internal and external partners.

Led continuous improvement initiatives for the department across an array of key Safety, Quality, Performance and Financial KPI’s. This required clear analysis of performance data to identify, action and monitor improvement opportunities, interacting with & influencing internal and external stakeholders to affect positive change, listening and communicating with stakeholders to deliver projects and line performance and strategic planning to drive year on year progress.Key accomplishments included the successful implementation of a new Stella Artois VBI (visual brand identity), Budweiser twist off crowns, end to end implementation from business case to commissioning of >£1mio replacement packaging machine, decomplexity projects to create 274,000HL (hectolitres) extra production capacity and value engineering of focus SKU’s generating £200,000 annual savings. Furthermore, I was able to gain qualifications in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt delivering a project to successfully reducing bottle loss by 0.19%.

Being an FLM was my first formal foray into people management with responsibility for the safety, quality and performance of 23 direct reports, 4 dotted line reports and four packaging lines on a shift by shift basis. During this time I was able to hone my people management skills with responsibility for driving & motivating a team, labour planning, 121’s, succession planning, performance & absence management. Additionally, I had responsibility for abnormality reporting to identify the root cause of faults / mistakes and implement corrective actions. This was an excellent opportunity to further my complex problem solving skills as you typically are never the subject matter expert on the abnormality but are required to extract and process key information to prevent the situation reoccurring.

The AB InBev graduate program was an excellent experience that saw graduates participate in a wide variety of projects across numerous breweries in Western Europe to work on solving real brewery problems. The projects were a chance to gain a great overview of the end to end brewery process and an overview into the workings of one of the largest FMCG's. The work included the analysis of existing processes to identify improvement opportunities and to assist in the development and implementation of best practices as well as the development and implementation of a Global Excellence Program into a pilot innovation plant and department.
