Ferranti Cheadle Heath’s core business was the design an manufacture of bespoke training simulator systems for the military. Example systems are flight simulators, submarine simulators, helicopter simulators. In addition to this the company designed and manufactured “Fire and Gas” warning systems for offshore oil drilling platforms. I held the position of “senior electronics design engineer”. • Design of digital and analogue electronic circuits for Major projects.• DSP based circuitry, bus interface, DMA, high sample rate A/D and D/A (up to 262kHz in 1990!), Motorola VME bus and processor interface, serial and parallel interface circuits, programmable logic circuits. Provide finished circuit design via CADstar for subsequent layout onto PCB.• Interface with PCB layout dept to ensure optimum physical layout and track placement to ensure design performance.• Produce test software to aid “debugging” of prototype hardware and for production testing of released designs.
