Anyone who thinks being a Realtor is easy has never been a Realtor. The fact that most people think it's easy is our greatest satisfaction. Long hours, nights, weekends, meeting with contractors, home inspectors, termite inspectors, appraisers, negotiating anything and everything in the best interests of our clients. Yeah, easy. But that's what we do, so our customers and clients feel that buying and/or selling their home was easy. There are buying agents and there are listing agents. Sometimes both, but most specialize in one or the other. I specialized in listings. My theory was, he/she who has the listings controls the market. I never lost a "deal". I still had the listing...Starting in the mid 90's I was one of the first to bring technology into the office, diligently creating databases for neighborhoods and "farming". Soon, one listing turned into two and on and on. Just showing up at the listing weekly to make sure the sign was straight and letting all the neighbors see me, created even more listings. It's the little things most don't do, that sets you apart from the others. A handwritten note letting the client know what you had done for them each month goes a long way in client retention and the all-important referrals.Following that pattern, I earned the Largest Percentage of Increase and Million Dollar Awards after my second full year and never looked back.
