Photography was once my full time occupation and continues to be a side interest to reflect how I see and experience the world. Part of the purpose of NearScape Design is to help others see beauty in their natural surroundings and improve awareness. Much of my work is available as gift items such as framed canvas prints, pillows, towels, t-shirts and dresses, mugs and plates, puzzles, calendars, postcards, coasters, and more.

Project|SEARCH Halton is a unique Transition-to-Work Program for youth with intellectual disabilities. I am pleased to be part of this new business-led, one-year employment preparation program that takes place entirely at the workplace. This immersive program involves a combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on training through three 10 week worksite internship rotations. The program culminates in individualized job development and transition to paid employment either at the host site or in the community through partnership with Xplore Employment at Community Living Oakville. Other major program partners include the Halton District School Board and Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Eye On Careers helps individuals uncover their true potential and gain a better picture of their career and the role of work in their lives, by guiding them through the 'what' and 'why' of their career. I am an active member of Career Professionals of Canada and hold certification as a Career Strategist and Resume Strategist. In addition, I also hold a Career Development Practitioner and Job Development Professional designation and have worked as a Job Coach and Career Development Specialist since 2011.

Identifying barriers affecting job search success and retention, advising on job search techniques, and developing employment action plans geared to realistic outcomes are of key importance in my Career Development Specialist role. I provide employment support and case management for Employment Ontario clients in Hamilton and previously in our Oakville and Burlington Career Centres. I also developed and facilitated Social Media and Interview Skills workshops and conducted regular one-on-one client sessions to identify strengths and skills and to establish goals, career paths, and career alternatives for meeting employment needs.It was my privilege to work with clients who live with significant barriers to employment, and others participating in brief workplace assessments, in my previous Job Coach role with Goodwill in downtown Hamilton. In that role I provided individualized job coaching for skill development, self-discovery, goal setting, and action plan development. Time was spent between on-site coaching at Goodwill Value Centre retail stores and in Goodwill's social enterprise: the Transitional Employment and Mentoring (TEAM) program within the Workforce Development division. In 2012, prior to joining the Goodwill team as a full time staff member, I completed a 5 month practicum at Goodwill Career Centre in Burlington where I learned a great deal from staff while providing resource centre support, assisting clients with resumes and cover letters, social media, administrative tasks, and front desk support. I also developed and presented a LinkedIn workshop and frequently assisted clients with establishing and maintaining their LinkedIn profiles. Driving an 18-wheeler was only a part of the job - I did a whole lot more than your average driver. As a customer service representative, I was often the first and often the only point of contact as I interacted daily with customers. I was keenly aware of this and was careful to represent the corporation well at all times. I also provided oversight to corporate website development for AMI's sister company, Chocolate FX located in Niagara-On-The-Lake. In that role I acted as project manager and content editor and worked to identify goals and focus the message to ultimately drive sales for premium chocolate products.

Working with community newspapers in Ontario was fascinating. I was responsible for cross-platform systems administration and network support for the association head office and managing a geographic information system (GIS) for advertising departments in newspapers across the province. I also served as website administrator and content editor/writer for corporate Intranet and worked directly with association members to identify technical issues.

For over 7 years I was involved in the development of educational content through media alongside medical staff, social workers, educators, pastoral care, and patients as a videographer/photographer, audiovisual technician, and producer/editor working within the department of Educational Services. In 1996 I was appointed Audiovisual Department Coordinator and then, following significant funding reductions, assisted with the closure of the department and migration of services to another facility.
