Business/Operations/Project Management Consulting ● Project managed the multi-million dollar expansion of manufacturing operations for a local company by opening a satellite facility in South Carolina. ($5MM annual revenues).● Implemented a comprehensive re-structuring of the businesses, resulting in increased efficiencies, reduced overhead and operating costs, improved profitability and cash flow, and faster response to customer demand while continuing to foster a company-wide continuous improvement (Lean) culture.● Increased Clean Burn Inc.’s and Millcreek Manufacturing Co.’s market share in rapidly changing markets by delivering high quality products, providing superior customer support, and promoting the growth of both companies through new product launches.● Led an aggressive marketing/advertising/PR campaign to re-position and strengthen Clean Burn’s brand, while enhancing the image of the used-oil heating industry as a whole.● Acted as an advocate for the used-oil heating industry through key leadership positions in UOMA (Used-Oil Management Association) and NORA (Association of Responsible Recyclers). ● Strengthened Clean Burn Inc.’s worldwide distribution network (34 domestic distributors and 10 international distributors) by negotiating an effective distributor contract, facilitating the sale/transfer of under-performing territories, and raising performance requirements. Established and implemented a nationwide wholesale distribution network for Millcreek Manufacturing Co.

● Directed all Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing/Inventory Control, Technical Support, and Shipping/Receiving functions for both Clean Burn Inc. and Millcreek Manufacturing Co.● Implemented Lean Manufacturing principles throughout the Manufacturing operation and facilitated the transformation to a continuous-improvement culture. Converted production from a forecast/MRP driven system to a pull-to-demand system. Lean tools included a 5-S visual workplace, a comprehensive kanban parts system, a two-bin auto-replenishment inventory system, standardized work procedures, value-stream mapping, and kaizen events.● Results included a 40% reduction in inventory (WIP and finished goods), a 25% reduction in direct labor, an 80% reduction in production lead-times, and significant improvements to cash flow, product quality, and customer satisfaction.

● Managed a 10-person Engineering department responsible for the research, design, and development of new furnaces and boilers for the used-oil heating industry (Clean Burn Inc.) and new equipment for the compact spreader, turf, and specialty agriculture industries (Millcreek Manufacturing Co.). ● Responsible for the development and release of two new furnace models and two new boiler models for Clean Burn Inc. Facilitated the design, solid modeling, prototyping, lab and field-testing, and UL-listing/CE-listing for these products.● Responsible for the development and release of two new turf topdressing models for Millcreek Manufacturing Co. Facilitated the design, solid modeling, prototyping, and lab and field-testing for these products.

● Managed a 5-person Engineering department responsible for the design, build, and installation of custom automated machinery systems. Responsibilities included customer/site evaluations, preparing financial cost estimates and quotations, overseeing the machine design and build processes (mechanical/hydraulic/electrical), managing budgets and schedules, and coordinating installations.

● Designed custom automated machinery for a variety of industries including aerospace (Boeing), food (Hershey Foods), medical (Schott Pharmaceutical), automotive (NTN-BCA, Morgan Corporation, etc.), clothing (W.L. Gore), building materials (CertainTeed), paper (International Paper), printing (Avery), and music (Steinway & Sons).
