Building Workforce Solutions, L3C is a Social Enterprise devoted to strengthening the construction workforce through the creation and distribution of shared Educational Resources [TEACH Construction Initiative], custom software solutions to support skills based hiring [TradeSkillsMatch.com], and individualized support services to our clients.

An industry-led collective effort to remove all barriers to accessing high quality training materials, program models, and support to expand workforce development in the construction sector.

Colorado Homebuilding Academy is a collaborative, industry-led training organization created to begin solving the construction industry’s need for a motivated and skilled workforce. We provide hands-on learning, job experience, job placement and mentoring for both youth and adults as they build careers in construction. The Academy was formed through a merger of Colorado Construction Institute and the BuildStrong Education, a private foundation under Oakwood Homes. As the Director of the Colorado Homebuilding Academy, my responsibilities range from managing program operations to business and funding development. I am honored to lead a dedicated and talented team as we work to improve the construction workforce. I am lucky to have had successful careers in very diverse industries, providing me with the opportunity to develop the skills needed for my current position...such as: Business and funding development, public speaking, team management, strategic planning, and client relations. Our training programs include collaborative training programs in high schools, training options for out of school youth, and basic construction skills training for adults. We recently negotiated an innovative partnership with the Community College System to not only support the curriculum for both a Construction Management and Estimating Certificate program but to partner in the delivery of course instruction. I am proud to be a convening member of the Denver Metro Construction Sector Partnership…that’s just a fancy name for a government model where Residential, Commercial and Civil construction entities work collaboratively to find common solutions to common problems – You will often hear me promoting to anyone in our industry to support a common message when developing our workforce by saying “it should not matter if you build a Home, a Hotel or a Highway - What matters is that you choose to build a career in construction.

The Colorado Construction Institute is a non-profit educational program committed to positively impact the lives and futures of our students through hands-on-training and career exploration in the residential construction industry while helping build sustainable urban neighborhoods within the community we serve. www.CCIDenver.orgAs a co-founder I successfully turned a simple concept into the most successful nonprofit pre-apprentice construction training program in Colorado. As the Executive Director I lead an organization of high performing individuals to provide the highest level of impact for our clients and community. • Successfully developed partnerships with other many other CBO’s and government offices• Diversified funding sources from the founding philanthropic foundation into a blend of revenue sources from government contracts, multiple foundations, and private industry support. • Implemented a growth strategy that resulted in doubling revenues every year from program inception• Designed effective and innovative programming that lead to the award of the highly competitive $1.1 million YouthBuild grant from Department of Labor on our first application• Developed a profitable social enterprise that benefits both CCI clients and Community, while diversifying revenue streams• Consistently called upon to sit on advisory panels and speak about the role of non-profits in workforce development

Provide consulting and design services for Solar Solutions and Energy Efficiency

Assumed responsibility of managing a $17 million dollar commercial mushroom grower in Alamosa Colorado. Oversaw plant operations with ten managerial direct reports, including sales, accounting, packing and shipping, maintenance, human resources, food and safety departments.• Worked with sales department to successfully increased product sale price by 18%• Directly responsible for acquisition of $2.2 million in growing raw materials• Responsible for State and Federal industry compliance program for food safety • Represented the company in labor disputes and litigation proceedings• Designed and implemented new internal processes leading to tighter controls and increased employee performance; the process reduced customer rejections by 80% providing the company over 300k savings annually

Responsible for management of all departments of a small resort just outside Yosemite preparing to undergo an expansion from a capacity of 36 to over 240 guests with the creation of a conference/event center and activity. Directly managed the Executive Chef, hospitality, maintenance and guest services managers.• In addition to day to day operational requirements of a mid-sized mountain resort, assisted the construction management team for an 8 million dollar construction project.• Help create and manage a Group and Event center all related business development and marketing strategies.• Expanded the restaurant seating capacity from 32 to 84 seats while maintaining a 31% food cost.• Implemented new property management software complete, with POS for F&B and retail centers. Later implemented an online reservation capability.• Responsible for all sales and reservations for the first season then assisted with Group Sales once expansion was completed.

Co-founder and Vice-President of this software services company primarily focused on state government clients. Responsible for business development, product deployment, and business administration of this small agile business• Presented to numerous state officials in Colorado; invited to speak in Washington DC about successful public/private partnerships.• Developed 3 distinct product offerings from concept, through legislative approval process, to award through a competitive bidding process.• Developed the Colorado No Call program, the Fuel Tax Tracking System, access to Colorado court records, and numerous online public information dissemination tools for the Secretary of State office.• Extensive public speaking engagements across the state on compliance to statutory changes effecting UCC secured transactions and Fuel Tax reporting requirements.
