Michael has been an active professional since the age of 14. Studying classical and jazz piano, combined with experiences in a multitude of musical arenas from church organist to Broadway pits to conducting orchestras, every endeavor has shaped his career and abilities to make him the musician he is today. He's toured the world with orchestral arena tours and Broadway musicals, composed music for stage plays and musicals, recorded film scores, appeared on television series, and continues to look for more ways to stretch his musical imagination. Michael lives in Los Angeles and regularly performs, music directs, and writes projects.

  Michael Sobie is an award-winning pianist with credits encompassing film, television, and stage. Michael is the pianist and conductor for Ramin Djawadi’s score to Reminiscence as well as the pianist for the composer's Surreal album, written to accompany the water feature by the same name at the World Expo in Dubai. He was selected by Djawadi to conduct the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience, having previously worked with the composer as keyboardist and assistant conductor of three prior GoT tours. Additional screen credits include Locke and Key, Amazing Stories, A Wrinkle in Time (Disney), The Mountain Between Us, A Christmas Story: Live, Too Funny to Fail, John Piscitello’s score for Memory Games, and Noah Baumbach’s Oscar-winning Marriage Story. Michael has toured the US and world as a pianist and conductor of Broadway musicals Wicked, Les Miserables, Altar Boyz, Aida, and Xanadu, and has also performed regularly as the pops pianist with the Grand Rapids Symphony. Other TV credits include Grace and Frankie, Why Women Kill, and Alter Ego, as well as commercials for Honda.Michael has been the music director for Lythgoe Family Productions since first joining them in 2014, Grammy-nominated Perla Batalla at her sold-out concerts across North America, and for Sing: On Tour and Universal Monsters Live at Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan. Michael has music directed countless benefit concerts, cabarets, and concerts, and regularly performs as a soloist and alongside the Orchid Quartet for the Candlelight Concerts series in Los Angeles. Recent projects include conducting Evan + Zane's greatest hits orchestral concert as well as arranging, orchestrating, and performing his own symphonic Elton John tribute, ROCKET MAN.He is married to his favorite husband, Gino.
