My final day as a RI employee was December 31, although I continue to have a Senior Consultant relationship with RI throughout 2022 to ensure a smooth transition for our clients.

Worked with some of WTW’s largest and most complex casualty customers. Significant experience with program business, single parent captives, and Integrated Occurrence (Bermuda) Form. Industry experience includes manufacturing, chemicals/advanced materials, real estate, and not-for-profit organizations. Joined Willis in 2007 as Senior Vice President and Casualty Manager in the Cleveland Office reporting to the office CEO. Worked with four different production teams made up of Producers, Client Managers, Claims Professionals and Loss Control Engineers. Responsible for managing relationships with over 40 different insurance carrier partners. In addition, managed an outsourced underwriting team that was responsible for providing customer service to 50 independent agents as part of the service Willis provided to our largest client. After merger with Towers Watson in 2016, was promoted to the National Casualty Practice and became one of twelve Large and Complex Casualty Brokers working in the Midwest Region of WTW and reporting to the Midwest Casualty Broking Director.

Senior Broker and Middle Market Team Leader in Marsh’s Cleveland office reporting to head of Middle Market Broking. Lead one of two teams made up of three junior brokers and four Account Managers. Responsible for managing a 20 account book of business, leading service staff, and managing, teaching and mentoring junior brokers. In 2005, when Marsh merged its Middle Market and Risk Management operations, was designated one of the two Casualty Team Leaders reporting to the Regional Office Casualty Manager. Management responsibilities included managing a nine person staff of both junior and senior Brokers as well as Client Service Managers. From 2005-06 was a member of office’s Senior Leadership Council that advised the Office CEO on line of business, personnel, production and client issues.

Senior Consultant focused on small and mid-size companies. Responsible for leading two and three person project teams made up of insurance and risk management specialists that provided advice to clients’ senior leadership teams regarding risk assessment, risk mitigation techniques, contract reviews, safety best practices and claims management/settlement. Also worked with brokers, on behalf of the client, to develop appropriate coverage, program structure and manage the insurance purchasing process. Reported directly to the company’s owner/President.

Part of a team of thirteen brokers that formed a start-up Global Risk Management Practice in Hylant's Cleveland office. Reported to the President of the Risk Management Practice. During formative days of the practice, responsibilities included sales, employee recruiting, building service teams and developing policies and procedures. Member of a team that produced a Global Fortune 1000 account for the practice and then became the out-sourced Risk Manager working for that client, within their Treasury Department and reporting to the Treasurer.

Casualty Broker focused primarily on casualty (general liability, auto liability and workers compensation) and excess casualty placements for large commercial customers. Member of 40 person Risk Management Department reporting to the Senior Vice President of the Casualty Practice in Cleveland, Ohio office. As a lead casualty broker working with four different teams composed of sales, account management, and service specialists, broking duties included: negotiating with underwriters, developing client reports and proposals, explaining complex casualty concepts to team members and clients, assisting Producers with new business sales opportunities, collaborating with other colleagues to ensure clients had access to other Marsh (non-casualty) resources.

Joined AIG Risk Management (AIGRM) during a period of high growth. Built upon my middle market underwriting experience to become Senior Underwriter and then an Account Executive. Gained experience working with national and regional brokers, underwriting large retained-risk programs for companies with over a billion dollars in revenue. Underwriting responsibilities included: identifying new business opportunities, collaborating with senior staff underwriters, purchasing reinsurance, coordinating claims services (internal and with TPA’s), resolving accounting issues, and working with compliance and legal staff to ensure programs conformed to regulatory requirements.

Recruited out of college to participate in one of the industry’s most respected underwriting training programs as part of 20 person class trained in property and casualty underwriting through both class room and on-the-job experiences. After completing the program, accepted a position as a Casualty Underwriter in Cincinnati Regional Office reporting to the Casualty Underwriting Manager. After a year, was promoted to a four person Production Underwriting Team with primary responsibility for producing new business from the office’s high volume agencies.
