I was employed prior to commissioning of the plant to design the storage racking and stock locations and to set up the stores warehouse. My role included:• Receiving extensive training on how the plant operated, this enabled me to identify the stock requirements which could be anything from PPE to specialist parts.• Identifying and locating suppliers to provide stock and placing orders in a timely fashion.• Moving stock into the warehouse by fork lift truck, allocating each part a stock number, logging it on to the stores computer system including details of the supplier, cost and safety level alerts for the min/max levels and reorder levels for over 1000 parts.• Running numerous reports for the stores systems. • Developing a good rapport with new suppliers to negotiate competitive rates and enhancing lead times. • Completed a 100% stock check of the whole stores in one month. My duties included goods inwards, picking lists, stock checks, rotation of stock with used by dates, loading the lorry, dirty and warranty procedures, invoicing and filing delivery notes.• I was a Storemen for ten years until I was promoted to Stores Supervisor, where I managed a team of 20 Storemen in the main Stores and Sub Stores in the bus garages. I initially managed 4 Stores but as the company expanded over the years it increased to 15 Stores all over London. I toured each site liaising with my staff, problem solving, carrying out 100% stock checks and calculating stock valuations. I also scheduled staff holidays, holiday cover and the allocation of Lorry drivers. • I carried out the closure of the main warehouse about 15 years ago and managed the delivery of parts straight to the stores.
