An experienced working actor, Michael Woolson now shares his experience as an in-demand acting coach, author, and director. He has guided a number of successful performers to high-profile roles in such film and television productions as True Grit, Moneyball, August:Osage County, American Horror Story, Ender's Game, The Vampire Diaries, and Pretty Little Liars. Michael Woolson coaches both experienced performers and aspiring professionals, while also directing a variety of theatrical productions through his busy Los Angeles studio. When teaching, Michael Woolson focuses on creating an authentic emotional experience for the student. His method involves script analysis and characterization, combined with experiences that help an actor access genuine emotion. Mr. Woolson developed this method through his own experiences on set and on stage, as well as over the course of his study with famed acting teacher Larry Moss. He began his teaching career in the studio of Mr. Moss, before founding his own independent studio in 1998. A published author as well, he describes his process and technique in his full-length books, Emotion on Demand and The Work of An Actor.
