Michael has worked in and with pharmacy for over 45 years and has extensive experience of multiple group management, as an independent pharmacy owner and in professional leadership organisations.In 2005 he became Chief Officer of Hampshire & IOW Local Pharmaceutical Committee. In January 2011 he was appointed as Chief Executive of the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) in the UK and has worked with pharmacy colleagues across the world. In 2015 he returned to a consultancy role working with pharmacy, stakeholders and the pharmaceutical industry.During the pandemic, as clinical lead and vaccinator, he supported two COVID-19 vaccination clinics, one pharmacy led, one PCN led. Together they have delivered over 250,000 COVID-19 and flu vaccinations to their local populations.Michael has been involved in the design and implementation of innovative community pharmacy services and was one of the main drivers behind the Healthy Living Pharmacy initiative. He retains a passion for enhancing pharmacy’s role in improving the public's health and wellbeing as part of an integrated health and care system and through private services. He is a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the Royal Society for Public Health and received a Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship for his work with a number of health charities. In October 2024 he was honoured to be presented with a lifetime achievement award by Pharmacy Business for his contribution to the profession.
