Spirit of the Downs is handcrafted grape spirit that has been distilled using Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes grown in and around the South Downs Park. The result, is smooth a fine quality spirit at 40% ABV that can be drunk straight or as a more flavoursome alternative to vodka with soda water, fruit mixers or for use in cocktails. This premium spirit has been created by wine merchant Michael Yeoman using traditional production methods with a combination of both indigenous wild and champagne yeasts. Spirit of the Downs is a sustainable product using pressed grapes from small batch English sparkling wine production to create a unique craft spirit. After distillation, the pomace from Spirit of the Downs is used to fertilise the apple orchard at Trenchmore Farm in Sussex.
