As part of a development team of 7 people, aided in the design and development of COBOL programs accessing VSAM files. The application utilized a Visual Basic (VB) front end, as a presentation layer before accessing the host mainframe. The online application ran under a CICS region. The development work was performed on an IBM mainframe using structured application software design and programming techniques. AGILE was used as the development methodology. Work was also performed using CICS VSAM to retrieve data to verify user data. I participated in the following areas: Design, develop (existing code) and development, of new code, (programming using structured programming techniques) of programs from specification stored in Rational..  Enterprise COBOL was used to do the code development.  AGILE was used on this project with Rational to store artefacts and track User Stories and Tasks.  Analysis and Design. Writing program design documents and interface specifications (Between VB and Cobol).  Performance and tuning changes for application and CICS VSAM. Unit test all COBOL programs changes. Updated and created VSAM files. Updated CICS region to add new programs, transaction and VSAM files. Using File-Aid to verify transactions and records to the VSAM file. Co-ordinate migration from development to system integration test environments. Mainframe systems software Z O/S and tools MVS, TSO, JCL, CICS and ISPF.  Xpediter was used to help debug online and batch COBOL programs.  MS office suite (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)• Writing specifications using MSWord,• Time reporting using Excel• Creating unit test plans and results using Word and PowerPoint and• Creating status reports in Rational Co-ordinate and assist in migration from development to system integration test environments.
