I grew up in a family that prioritized education and have continued my schooling and self-education to this day.  I earned a degree in accounting from Arizona State University, because it made sense and was practical, and worked for a top worldwide accounting firm.  Yet, I always felt my passion was with children and their education.       Finally, I decided to make my dream a reality. I went back to school to earn my credential and master's at Azusa Pacific University. My favorite assignments involved working with struggling students who needed someone in their corner.   Over the past fifteen years, I’ve taught math and even English both in California and Arizona and love it.     My most enjoyable aspect of teaching is one-on-one tutoring which allows me to focus on the individual student.  I love learning about and helping children find and appreciate their strongest selves.  When a child is able to release their anxiety and focus on the subject at hand they are much more successful.   There is nothing better than getting a child to laugh and let down their guard before tackling a particularly tough area of math.     I’ve specialized in reducing math anxiety while tutoring online. There are so many innovative techniques one can use to help a child release their math fears. I’m always looking for new ways to inspire my students and help them achieve success in math and in life. I also focus on life skills of the heart and mind.  I believe these life skills will continue to support children in all areas of school, as well as life.  Examples of such skills are Perseverance, effort, organization, sense of humor, a curiosity that are seeds planted today but continues to bloom over a lifetime. I look forward to working with you and your child to gain confidence and success in math!
