Research leader on learning, technology, change and innovation. My research is focused on transforming learning and teaching with technology; I demonstrate substantial contributions to advancing policy, practice & theory in education. Internal funding and SSHRC research grants as PI, Co-PI and as a collaborator to study the changes that technology brings to education and the ongoing professional learning required for expert teaching [over 2 million from 1998 - 2023]. As a leader of research, I have led collaborative team research and development projects that have brought 5.9 million dollars of funding into the Werklund School of Education for program expansion & evaluation. I have published / co-published 65+ articles in high quality, peer reviewed journals in my discipline, and articles in professional journals for classroom teachers & school leaders. My research is published in Q1 journals in Education, Computer Science, and Library and Information Sciences. In this planned one year appointment prior to Research & Scholarly Leave, and in consultation with the Dean, I provided leadership and oversight for the implementation of the Werklund School's Strategic Plans to advance academic excellence, research growth and impact, community engagement, and collective wellbeing. Operated at both strategic and operational levels of the School, and influenced strategic planning, resource allocation, decision making, and day to day operations with a sharp focus on enacting systematic improvements in process, policy and procedures. Worked alongside 7 associate deans to communicate and develop the vision, influence operations, identify opportunities, to provide resources, support and direction, and to engage in problem solving in each of these complex portfolios; mentoring and advising of other academic leaders in the school and at UCalgary, networking and connecting, providing data and feedback on progress and outcomes; and working with the administrative staff in the Dean’s Office on financial, HR, event planning, communications, fund development, as well as providing oversight on administrative and academic functions throughout the School.

As Associate Dean, I provided senior academic leadership for blended and online research and professional graduate programs in educational research and educational psychology that served over 1300 students. As AD GPE I worked closely with an exceptional team of academic faculty members in Werklund School and Faculty of Graduate Studies, support and management staff and graduate students, including a Manager, a Team Lead, 9 Graduate Program Administrators, 100+ full-time and over 200+ part-time academic faculty members, graduate student leaders, 1300+ doctoral and masters students, to engage in and support high quality research, scholarship and learning in seven degree programs offered on campus, and in blended and fully online learning environments.

As an Associate Professor, I engaged in research and scholarship in the learning sciences and educational technology, graduate supervision of doctoral and masters students, designed and taught graduate and undergraduate courses, and engaged in extensive Faculty, University, Professional and Community leadership and service roles.
